President William Ruto has joined leaders across the political divide in mourning the death of Ol Kalou MP David Njuguna Kiaraho, who passed away on Sunday morning at Nairobi Hospital.
In his condolence message, President Ruto described Kiaraho, a three-term legislator, as a committed and visionary leader whose service left a lasting impact on his constituents and the nation.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the people of Ol Kalou during this difficult period,” Ruto said.
The President eulogised Kiaraho as a humble and steadfast leader who placed the needs of his people above political considerations.
“He was a humble, steadfast, and visionary leader whose commitment to serving his constituents made him a pillar of his community. He will be remembered for his outstanding contributions to the education sector and for his distinguished service in the National Assembly,” he added.
Ruto urged current and future leaders to follow Kiaraho’s example by prioritising service delivery over political rivalry.
“His life stands as an inspiration to leaders of this generation to rise above political rivalry and remain focused on service and the core issues that matter to the people. May his ‘Kazi Kwanza, Siasa Baadaye’ legacy endure,” he said.
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi also paid tribute, describing Kiaraho as a dedicated public servant whose work benefited Ol Kalou and the nation.
“Kenya has lost a dedicated public servant. His contribution to public service and the development of Ol Kalou will be remembered with respect and gratitude,” Mudavadi said.
National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula echoed similar sentiments, praising Kiaraho’s parliamentary service and his role in key committees.
“Until his untimely demise, the late Hon. Kiaraho served the National Assembly with diligence and commitment as a member of the Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure and the Procedure and House Rules Committee,” Wetang’ula said.
Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano described Kiaraho as a leader defined by sacrifice, dedication, and service to humanity.
“Nyandarua and Kenya have lost a great leader, a man whose life was defined by sacrifice, dedication, and service to humanity. My heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and the good people of Ol Kalou,” Miano said, noting his collaboration with regional leaders to advance development in Nyandarua County.
Former Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria recalled his working relationship with Kiaraho in Parliament, describing him as a cooperative and respectful colleague.
“Having served with him in the 11th and 12th Parliaments and in the Transport, Infrastructure, Public Works and Housing Committee, I enjoyed working with a very cooperative and respectful colleague,” Kuria said.
Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi also mourned the legislator, calling him a friend and dedicated public servant.
“He will be remembered for his dedication to public service and contributions to our collective efforts in Parliament. May he rest in peace,” Sudi said.
