Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has been named the best-performing legislator in the country.
The outspoken lawmaker received the award on Thursday, April 2, during the Starleaders Awards ceremony held at the Serena Hotel.
In a statement issued on Friday, April 3, Babu thanked residents of Embakasi East, noting that the recognition reflected their collective effort and support.
“Last night at Serena Hotel, I was deeply honored to be recognized as the Best Member of Parliament in Kenya,” he said.
“This achievement is not mine alone; it belongs to the people I serve, whose trust and support continue to inspire my work every day,” he added.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator said his performance record demonstrates a shared commitment to accountability, progress and service delivery.
He maintained that his priority remains delivering tangible results that directly improve the lives of wananchi.
“I remain dedicated to advancing the needs of our communities and delivering results that improve lives,” Babu said.
“Leadership is not about titles, power, or positions; it is about service. I will continue to serve with integrity, humility and unwavering focus on the people,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mbeere North MP Leonard Wa Muthende was ranked the best-performing legislator in Embu County and eleventh nationally.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Wa Muthende dedicated the award to the people of Mbeere North, saying their support continues to drive his development agenda.
“This award is not mine alone. It belongs to you, the great people of Mbeere North, who believed in my vision and continue to support our development agenda,” he said.
At the same event, Kisii Governor Simba Arati was recognised as the best-performing county boss in the country.
Babu’s latest recognition adds to a growing list of accolades, having also been ranked the top-performing MP in Kenya by Politrack Africa in March 2025.
The legislator has consistently dominated performance rankings in recent years and is widely seen as a potential contender for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election.
However, Babu has previously raised concerns that his party, ODM, could deny him the ticket to contest for the seat.
He is also associated with the Linda Mwananchi faction, which has been critical of ODM leader Oburu Oginga and has opposed any potential alliance between the party and President William Ruto.
