Kenyan singer Kevin Mbuvi, widely known as Bahati, has explained why he was unable to provide the funds he had pledged to Harambee Stars.
He mentioned in a video shared on his official Instagram page that he was out of town for his son's birthday celebration, which led to a delay.
“Last week was my son’s birthday, and I am a family person; I cannot go out and leave him on his special day,” he said.
Nonetheless, even though he couldn't provide the money at the agreed time, he had attempted to reach out beforehand and had tried to communicate, albeit unsuccessfully.
In the video, he mentioned that individuals are attempting to disrupt the process of him distributing the money.

His comments come after Kenyans questioned why he had not yet delivered the money as he had previously promised.
Some suggested that he was attempting to gain public attention with that promise. Bahati also refuted the accusations that he is using the players to chase clout.
On August 9 Bahati and his wife, Diana Marua, pledged Sh 1 million to the Harambee Stars if they secure a victory in the match against Morocco.
Conversely, President William Ruto has declared that the government will subsidize 50% of the cost for affordable housing units pledged to the Harambee Stars players as part of a new incentive program for their commendable performance at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
He announced this during a luncheon at State House, Nairobi, where he hosted the national football team after their impressive performance in the tournament.
“The two-bedroom house that we have agreed on in affordable housing costs Ksh2 million. We are going to pay for you half that amount, which is Ksh1 million. Alternatively, we will be giving you a mortgage which you can pay for over 20 years, and that would translate to a payment of Ksh2,000 or Ksh3,000 every month,” Ruto stated.
