Comedian Eric Omondi has emerged as Kenya’s highest-earning social media influencer, raking in an estimated Sh57 million in 2025, according to new industry data.
A report by Odipo Dev indicates that Omondi led the earnings chart through brand partnerships, highlighting the rapid commercialization of Kenya’s digital content space.
The report shows that top influencers collectively earned Sh296 million over the past year, while total payouts to content creators exceeded Sh1.07 billion, underscoring the growing economic impact of the sector.
Findings from the study point to entertainment, particularly comedy, as the most profitable content category, with creators leveraging high audience engagement to secure repeat deals with brands.
Companies in sectors such as beauty, food and beverage, telecommunications, and financial services are increasingly shifting advertising budgets to digital platforms, with small and medium enterprises driving a significant share of influencer collaborations.
However, the report notes a disconnect between audience reach and revenue generation, especially on TikTok, where many creators struggle to convert views into income.
Instagram remains the most effective platform for monetisation, while Facebook offers moderate returns for content creators.
With limited direct earnings from social media platforms, most Kenyan influencers continue to depend heavily on brand deals and alternative income streams.
Analysts say enhancing monetisation models and widening access to brand partnerships will be key as Kenya’s creator economy continues to expand beyond the Sh1 billion mark.
