Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju on Thursday, April 2, alleged that Director of Criminal Investigations boss Mohamed Amin was among individuals trailing him using unmarked vehicles.
Speaking to the press outside Dari Business Park, Tuju further claimed that lawyer Fred Ojiambo was also involved in tracking his movements.
Tuju stated that the alleged surveillance lasted for more than twenty one days, culminating in a car chase that forced him to abandon his vehicle on the day he reportedly went missing.
“I am forced to name two individuals for public record as the chief suspects with respect to the vehicles that have been trailing me in the near past, culminating in the car chase that made me abandon my vehicle,” Tuju said.
“The two individuals are lawyer Fred Ojiambo of Kaplan and Stratton and Amin Mohamed of DCI,” he added.
The former Cabinet Secretary claimed he possesses evidence showing that Amin had been consulting with Ojiambo, which he intends to present in court.
He questioned why the DCI Director would be engaging with a lawyer against whom he had filed a case in January, raising concerns about possible conflict of interest.
Tuju argued that the alleged link between the two made it difficult for him to report the matter to the DCI, despite being followed by unknown vehicles.
“When my vehicle was being trailed and other criminal offences visited upon me, the natural thing would have been to inform the DCI, but if the Director is consulting with Ojiambo in ways we can prove, then it is like asking a hyena to take care of the sheep,” he stated.
He also claimed that police had arrested his close associate, Steve Mwanga, alleging that authorities were using the arrest to intimidate him.
According to Tuju, Mwanga was being denied bail despite being in critical health condition.
The former Jubilee Party Secretary General further challenged police to arrest him if they believed he had made false reports.
His remarks come days after Amin dismissed claims of Tuju’s disappearance, stating that the former CS had been at his Karen home during the period in question.
Amin warned that authorities would take action against individuals found to have staged abductions in an attempt to tarnish the image of the National Police Service and the DCI.
