A massive crowd gathered along roads leading to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday, August 21, 2025, to welcome former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua
The ex- DP jetted back into the country in the afternoon following his extended stay in the United States.
The charged supporters, waving flags and chanting slogans, took over parts of the highway near the airport as they marched in excitement, creating a vibrant yet tense atmosphere.
Some were seen waving Rastafarian flags, with others riding motorcycles and raising fists in a show of solidarity.
The numbers grew steadily throughout the morning as more groups joined the procession.

Gachagua’s supporters, many of them youth, referred to him as “Mt. Kenya’s true voice” and expressed hope that his return would mark the beginning of political realignment.
The welcome was organized by members of the Democratic Congress Party (DCP) and other allied groups.
The party had earlier announced plans for a grand reception, including processions and a political rally at Kamukunji Grounds.
