“ANC Is Dissolved, It No Longer Exists; Our Future Is in UDA,” Mudavadi Urges Supporters

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has called on his supporters to unite under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) as political realignments gather pace ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mudavadi said unity and strategic positioning were critical if leaders from Western Kenya are to secure influence at the national level.

ANC Dissolved, Supporters Told to Move On

Speaking during a Friday interview on Western Kenya radio stations in Kakamega, Mudavadi said the Amani National Congress (ANC) had been formally dissolved and no longer exists as an independent political vehicle.

“I was the force behind ANC, and we followed all the required procedures until we reached a point where we said ANC has been dissolved,” he said.

He urged former ANC members and supporters to consolidate under UDA, arguing that remaining fragmented would weaken their political bargaining power.

Mudavadi dismissed a recent court ruling that questioned the legality of ANC’s merger with UDA, describing it as unenforceable.

“Hiyo ni kama kupe imekwama kwa ngozi ya ng’ombe ambaye amechinjwa,” he said.

The PCS said legal challenges would not alter the political reality and advised his supporters to focus on strengthening their position within UDA rather than dwelling on technicalities.

Mudavadi also appealed for greater unity among leaders and voters from Western Kenya, saying the region must act collectively to secure national leadership opportunities.

“I want to tell the people of Western Kenya that we want national leadership. We can only achieve that within UDA, by having weight, numbers, and unity inside the party,” he said.

Mudavadi noted that when President William Ruto completes his term in 2032, leaders from Western Kenya would be well positioned to compete for top leadership roles if they remain united under a strong party structure.

UDA–ODM Talks Ongoing

His remarks come amid ongoing talks between UDA and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Mudavadi clarified that while UDA recognises ODM as a political party, no formal resolution has been reached to work with any specific group of ODM leaders.

He said discussions remain consultative, with internal negotiations continuing within UDA to ensure a strategic approach before any coalition arrangement is finalised.

The developments are unfolding against the backdrop of growing divisions within ODM, driven by debates over cooperation with UDA and differing visions for the party’s future.

Mudavadi’s intervention appears aimed at consolidating Western Kenya’s political influence within UDA, positioning the region for leadership opportunities, and ensuring relevance in Kenya’s evolving political landscape as the 2027 elections draw closer.
