Foreign PS Korir Sing'Oei faced intense backlash from Kenyans after sharing an AI-generated video that he claimed was from CNN.
On his X account, previously known as Twitter, the PS was thrilled when the clip commended President Ruto's government for its peace diplomacy efforts in Sudan.
It incorrectly featured journalist Fareed Zakaria, who thoroughly discussed Kenya's efforts to stabilize Sudan amid the ongoing conflict.
"For the fake analysts who doubt the good faith of Kenya’s peace diplomacy, here is a cogent assessment by CNN’s Foreign Policy expert, Fareed Zakaria."

The video swiftly drew strong reactions from Kenyans on X, who quickly identified it as fake, prompting him to delete it without issuing a public apology.
The following are some of the reactions led by Senator Edwin Sifuna:
"Congenital Incompetence," Edwin Sifuna wrote.
"Kenya’s most senior bureaucrat in the Foreign ministry shared an AI deepfake video to criticize “fake analysts” who called out Nairobi for allowing Sudan’s RSF to announce a parallel govt. This is not from CNN or Fareed Zakaria. PS Sing'Oei Korir deleted it without apologizing," CNN journalist Larry Madowo.
"It’s shocking that PS for Foreign Affairs Dr. Korir Sing’Oei shared a fake AI-generated deepfake video featuring Fareed Zakaria, falsely claiming praise for Kenya’s peace efforts in Sudan He deleted the video after it was exposed as fake," Money Academy.
The action is not far removed from recent events where the country has struggled with its foreign policy, leading others to question its diplomatic position and affecting trust among other African nations, as seen during the AUC elections.
One of the issues arises from the M23 rebels' situation in Congo and the recently concluded Rapid Support Forces meeting at KICC.
