Residents in sections of Nairobi County should brace for temporary electricity disruptions after Kenya Power announced a scheduled outage set for Friday, May 1.
In a public notice issued on Thursday, April 30, the utility company explained that the interruption is part of routine system maintenance and network improvement works aimed at enhancing service reliability.
The planned blackout will primarily affect the Thigiri area, where power supply is expected to be switched off from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Neighbourhoods likely to experience the outage include Thigiri Ridge Road, Thigiri Close, Thigiri Crescent, Thigiri Gardens, and nearby customers within the surrounding vicinity.
During the scheduled downtime, households and enterprises in the affected zones are encouraged to make early arrangements to minimise disruption to daily activities. Businesses that rely heavily on electricity—particularly those in retail, hospitality, and remote work setups—may need to explore alternative power options or adjust operating hours accordingly.
