The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has disowned activities and statements linked to businessman Oketch Salah, insisting that any engagements undertaken by him are strictly personal and do not represent the party.

In a statement issued by national chairperson Gladys Wanga, ODM said it was compelled to clarify its position after Salah’s recent actions and remarks were publicly associated with the party.

ODM stressed that it has not sanctioned any of the activities attributed to Salah and that he does not speak or act on behalf of the party.

“The Orange Democratic Movement wishes to clarify that any activities, statements, or engagements undertaken by Oketch Salah are carried out strictly in his personal capacity and do not represent or bind the Orange Democratic Movement in any way,” the statement read.

The party further emphasised that all official ODM activities, programmes, and engagements must be coordinated through the party secretariat and conducted with the approval of the leadership, headed by party leader Oburu Odinga, in line with established internal processes.

ODM also warned grassroots leaders and members against organising or conducting activities in the party’s name without prior consultation and authorisation from the leadership.

“Grassroots leaders, members, and supporters are therefore advised that no activities should be organised or conducted in the name of ODM without prior consultation and approval from the party leadership and the secretariat,” the statement added.

The party said it remains committed to order, discipline, and structured engagement in pursuing its political objectives.

Salah has recently attracted attention for outspoken remarks touching on ODM affairs, including claims about alleged private conversations with the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga regarding internal party matters and ODM’s political direction.

Those claims were publicly disputed by members of the Odinga family and senior party officials.
