Kenya Power has announced that several parts of the country will experience planned electricity interruptions on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, to facilitate routine maintenance of the national grid.
According to the utility company, the exercise will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., targeting specific areas in Nairobi, North Rift, Western, North Eastern and Coast regions.
Kenya Power clarified that the interruptions are part of regular efforts to enhance reliability.
“These maintenance works are necessary to reinforce the stability of our network and ensure that customers receive safe and reliable electricity supply,” Kenya power stated.
In Nairobi, the outage will affect Dandora Phase 1, Korogocho, Kamunde Road and Margret Kenyatta Hospital, while in the North Rift, areas around Kaplamai High School, Kipsingori, Botwa, Nyakinwya, Kapchepsir, Kimoson and Karara Choge Farm will be impacted.
The Western region will see interruptions in parts of Kakamega County, specifically Lutaso, Navakholo, Dorofu, Nambacha, Makunga, Ikoli, Eshikhulo and Emutete.

In the North Eastern cluster, covering parts of Kiambu County, the affected areas include Cravers, Witeitihi, Kibute, Kiahuria, Kimunyu Market, Riverside Estate, KU Boma, Daykio Estate and Oaklands Estate among others.
Meanwhile, in the Coast region, parts of Changamwe including Kenya Meat, MICD, Mitchell Cotts, Awale, Total Changamwe, Kipevu and Miracle Park Kibarani will also experience the scheduled outage.
The utility acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the power cuts but emphasized the long-term benefits.
“We regret the disruption this may cause to homes and businesses. However, the planned works are designed to reduce the risk of unexpected blackouts in the future,” Kenya Power explained.
“We ask our customers to bear with us during the maintenance period. Our teams will work within the timelines to minimize the duration of interruptions.”
The firm encouraged residents in affected areas to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the outage.
