Planned Power Outages to Affect Several Areas on Friday

Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions in select parts of the country on Friday, September 5, 2025.

 

The utility company said the outages are part of routine maintenance aimed at improving service delivery and enhancing the reliability of supply.

 

“This exercise is necessary to ensure a more stable and efficient power supply for our customers,” the company said in a notice.

 

In Nairobi, customers in Runda and its environs will be without power from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

Areas to be affected include Glee Hotel, Eliud Mathu, Runda Glove, Runda Drive, Runda Mumwe, Runda Riviera, Runda Kigwaru, Mimosa Annex, Mimosa Close, Mimosa Vale, Mimosa Gardens, Mimosa Ridge, Mimosa Road, Northern Bypass, Githogoro, Panafrican Insurance, Mae Ridge and surrounding neighborhoods.

 

In the Western region, parts of Kakamega County, particularly Malava town and surrounding areas, will also experience an outage between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

 

Affected customers include Malava Market, Kimangeti, West Kenya Sugar, Bulovi, Kambi Mwanza, and nearby residents.

 

In the Mt. Kenya region, Nyeri County will see interruptions in Ruring’u, Skuta, and Thunguma areas. The outage will run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

Affected locations include Swahili Village, St. Jude, Kagayu Market, PG Mureithi, Beatrice Court, Mary Immaculate, Jacaranda, Sport Gate, Galands Hospital, Waka Maternity, Central Mart Supermarket, Thuta, Chorong’i, Kiamunyi, Enea Academy, and adjacent customers.

 

“We urge residents in the listed areas to make necessary arrangements to minimize inconvenience during the outage hours,” Kenya Power added.

 

In Kirinyaga County, Mwea town and its environs will also be off supply from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

Areas set to be affected include Ngurubani Secondary and Primary schools, CCS Wanguru Dispensary, Githogondo Village, Thiba schools, Nice Digital City, Thiba Health Center, Karima, Mbui Njeru, Rurumi Block villages and several rice mills.
