Planned Power Outages to Hit Several Regions on Friday

Kenya Power has declared planned power outages in various regions of the country on Friday, August 22, 2025, to facilitate routine maintenance.
The outages will last for several hours, impacting customers in the Nairobi, Central Rift, Central, and Western regions.
In Nairobi, Lower Kabete residents will experience a power outage from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The regions anticipated to be impacted encompass Lower Kabete Campus, Lower Kabete Primary and Farasi Primary schools, Peponi School, Farasi Crescent, Lower Kabete Road, New Kitsuru, Kitsuru Springs, Mwimuto Market, Gituamba, and nearby neighborhoods.
Interruptions are anticipated in Narok County from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The blackout will affect Mwea Mosque, Karira Hospital, Ndorome, Nguka, Gatitika, Maruraa, Marurab, Kasarani, Kangiciri, and nearby customers.
Nyeri County is anticipated to face disruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The regions expected to experience an impact include Githakwa and its surroundings, which will undergo a power outage from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This will affect major institutions and facilities like Githakwa Market, Githakwa Secondary School, Ihari Market, the Ihari Safaricom Booster, Githakwa Chief's Camp, and Kabanya Clinic.
The western region of the country is anticipated to face interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The power outage will affect parts of Busia County, with areas such as Bumbe and Sigalame, including Iguho Hospital, Shisesia Village, Makhokho, Shirere, Iguya, and Khayega Playing Ground, being without electricity from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Kenya Power reassured customers that the works are necessary to enhance efficiency and minimize unplanned disruptions.
“We are carrying out routine maintenance across our network to reinforce stability and improve the quality of electricity supply,” the company said.
The firm also urged residents in the listed regions to make prior arrangements.
“We advise customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and bear with us as we work to serve them better,” Kenya Power added.
The utility further pledged to restore electricity as soon as the work is completed.
"Power will be switched back on immediately after the maintenance exercise is over. If we finish earlier than scheduled, supply will be restored without delay,” Kenya power assured.
