Super Metro Sacco has announced the launch of a new route to Ongata Rongai, marking its latest expansion within the Nairobi metropolitan transport network.
In a statement shared via its social media platforms on Monday, March 30, the Sacco confirmed that the new service is already operational, signalling its continued growth across key commuter corridors.
“New route alert! Today. Rongai, here we are. Thank you for your continued support,” the statement read.
However, the Sacco did not disclose additional details about the route, including the exact location of its stage or specific pickup points, leaving commuters awaiting further clarification.
Currently, the bus company operates a fleet of over 500 vehicles, serving at least 15 major routes within Nairobi and its surrounding areas.
These routes include Makongeni, Thika, Juja, Roysambu, Westlands, Kikuyu, Malaa, Kitengela, Kabiria and Ngong, among others.
Additional routes served by the Sacco are Juja Farm, Regen, Kinoo, Upperhill, Mfangano, Satellite, Wanyee and Kahawa West, reflecting its wide coverage across the city and its outskirts.
The Rongai route marks the second expansion by the Sacco in less than a year, highlighting its aggressive push to capture a larger share of the public transport market.

In May 2025, Super Metro introduced new routes connecting Kencom to Upperhill, Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Ngong Road and Kabiria, further strengthening its urban network.
The Sacco’s buses primarily operate from the Kencom Bus Stop, located behind the Kencom building near a private parking lot in Nairobi’s central business district.
The move into Rongai is expected to stir competition in a region long associated with the vibrant ‘Nganya culture’, often characterised by flashy matatus and higher fares.
Super Metro has built a reputation as one of the more disciplined transport Saccos in Nairobi, with its vehicles largely adhering to operational guidelines, especially at designated terminals.
Despite this, the Sacco has occasionally faced criticism over the conduct of some staff members, although its management has consistently maintained that such incidents are isolated.
