The Office of the 4th President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, has cautioned the public over the circulation of false and misleading content on social media.
The warning comes after a social media post called for a meeting of Mt Kenya leaders on February 14, urging former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to “organize his team” to unite the community. The post read:
“I am calling for a meeting with all Mt Kenya leaders on 14th of February so that we trace back our journey as a community. I am calling upon Rigathi Gachagua to organize his team too so that we unite. We are a large community and can’t allow someone to take us for granted.”
In response, Uhuru’s office clarified that the post is unauthorized and does not represent the views or position of the retired President.
“We wish to remind the public that any official communication from H.E Uhuru Kenyatta or his office will only be disseminated through our established and verified channels, including the Office of the 4th President or the official Jubilee Party platforms,” the statement read.
The office emphasized its commitment to sharing accurate information promptly and urged citizens to verify content before sharing. They warned that false or misleading posts could misrepresent the former President and erode public trust.
“The dignity of the Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya remains paramount. We reaffirm our commitment to transparency, integrity, and respect in all our engagements,” the statement added.
This clarification comes amid growing concerns over misinformation targeting prominent public figures as the 2027 general elections approach.
