A woman has been arrested in Bondeni, Nakuru County, for allegedly supplying cannabis and cannabis-laced cookies to minors, in what authorities describe as a deliberate attempt to lure children into drug use.
The arrest was made on the night of August 11, 2025, during a targeted operation led by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA).
Acting on intelligence, officers raided a suspected drug den and seized several rolls of cannabis along with cookies allegedly infused with the drug.
Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect is linked to a trafficking network allegedly operated by her husband, who remains at large.
NACADA Chief Executive Officer Anthony Omerikwa condemned the incident and vowed to dismantle the entire network.
“This arrest is just the beginning,” Omerikwa said.
“We are pursuing all accomplices to ensure this network is completely dismantled. The use of cannabis-laced edibles to lure minors is a disturbing tactic that shows the lengths traffickers will go to expand their market.”
The suspect is in custody as investigations continue, with police tracking additional suspects.
NACADA has urged the public to report any suspicious drug-related activity, stressing that community cooperation is vital in protecting children and combating the narcotics trade.
