The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has opened an investigation into the disappearance of former cabinet secretary Raphael Tuju and his driver.
In a statement released on Sunday, March 22, the DCI confirmed that Tuju’s phone has been unreachable hours after he was reported missing.
According to the detectives, Tuju’s family reported him missing on Saturday, March 22. Later that day, a security guard along Miotoni Lane in Karen spotted his vehicle parked with its hazard lights on and alerted authorities.
Police officers from Karen Police Station responded to the report and secured the scene.
Crime Scene Investigators later processed the area, after which the vehicle was towed to Karen Police Station for further forensic examination.
The DCI noted that efforts to contact Tuju have been unsuccessful since his phone remains switched off.
A specialised team has since been deployed to handle the case, working alongside other government agencies to trace his whereabouts and establish the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
However, the investigation has encountered a setback after the DCI revealed that access to Tuju’s residence along Mwitu Drive in Karen was denied by his family.
The agency emphasised the need for cooperation from all involved parties, urging them to allow investigators access to relevant locations and to provide any useful information that could aid the probe.
The DCI has also appealed to members of the public who may have seen Tuju, his vehicle, or any suspicious activity around Miotoni Lane and the wider Karen area on or around March 21, 2026, to come forward and assist with information.
Anyone with details is encouraged to report to the nearest police station or share information confidentially via the DCI toll-free line 0800 722 222 or WhatsApp number 0709 570 000.
