The 2025 KCSE examination results will be officially released today, Friday, January 9th, 2026, the Ministry of Education has announced.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba is expected to oversee the release at a ceremony scheduled for 9:30 a.m. in Eldoret, marking a key milestone in Kenya’s national examination calendar.

According to the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), 993,226 candidates sat for the examinations, which ended on November 21st, 2024.

"We are impressed that out of the 993,000 candidates, 50 per cent of whom were girls, 270,000 attained C+ and above, securing a direct entry to university," President Ruto.

"In 2025, 993,226 candidates sat for the KCSE, compared to 962,512 in 2024, representing an increase of 30,714 candidates. 492,012 were male, and 501,214 were female, this is the second year in a row that female candidates are more than male candidates," CS Ogamba.

Once released, results will be accessible through online platforms.

  • For online access, candidates will be required to log in to the KNEC results portal at results.knec.ac.ke, enter their index number, and select the examination year to view provisional results.

KNEC has warned the public to be cautious of unofficial links, noting that heavy traffic may temporarily slow down the portal immediately after the release.

Candidates will also be able to obtain their official result slips from their examination centres.

In line with new policy measures, the Ministry of Education has indicated that final KCSE certificates will, going forward, be issued through sub-county education offices to reduce delays linked to administrative challenges at the school level.
