In a warm message shared on his official X account, Jalang’o described Mama Ida as an extraordinary woman, a pillar of strength, wisdom, and grace.

He praised her for her role in empowering women and shaping society, noting that her dedication to family, education and justice has inspired many across the country.

"Happy Birthday Mama Ida! You are a good person, you will go to heaven,” the MP said in his post.

Mama Ida Odinga, now 75, is a respected figure in Kenya’s social and political landscape, known not only as the wife of ODM leader Raila Odinga but also as an influential voice in her own right.

Her birthdays are often marked with pomp and colour, bringing together high-profile figures from across the political divide.

During her 74th birthday in 2024, Raila hosted a grand celebration at a Nairobi hotel, attended by governors, Cabinet Secretaries and Members of Parliament.

Beyond the celebrations, Mama Ida has long been celebrated for her advocacy in education, women empowerment and social justice.

Over the years, she has mentored young women, championed initiatives for better learning opportunities, and spoken out on matters of equality.
