President William Ruto has shared his thoughts ahead of the much-anticipated fight between Mbavu Destroyer and Majembe, scheduled for Saturday, April 4.
For more than two months, Kenyans have followed the rising tension between the two fighters, both hailing from low-income neighbourhoods in Nairobi.
Born Ferdinand Omondi, Mbavu Destroyer will face Portifas Odipo, popularly known as Majembe, in a clash between two amateur boxers aiming to kickstart their careers. The bout will take place at the Kasarani Stadium Indoor Arena.
In a short video shared on his official social media pages, President Ruto wished both fighters good luck. He also pledged Ksh1 million to each boxer ahead of the match.
“I wish them the best of luck. Let them go do their best in the fight. I place Ksh1 million for Majembe, and another Ksh1 million for Mbavu Destroyer,” he said.
Both boxers are expected to receive prizes, including cash rewards, following the fight.
