The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced free motor vehicle inspection clinics for school transport vehicles as part of its ongoing Operation Watoto Wafike Salama safety campaign.

The authority said the exercise will be carried out across all NTSA inspection centres on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

However, In Kisii County, the exercise will take place a day earlier, on Friday, August 22, 2025.

“The inspections will focus on mechanical condition, safety features and compliance with road safety regulations,” NTSA said.

According to NTSA, school transport vehicles must be presented for assessment to ensure they are roadworthy and compliant with safety requirements before learners resume classes.

“We will make a safety assessment to guide vehicle owners and schools on corrective measures to take in order to ensure the safety of all our children,” NTSA noted.

The clinics will be held in major towns including Nairobi (Likoni Road), Mombasa, Kisumu, Kakamega, Machakos, Nakuru, Nyeri, Embu, Kericho, Voi, Uasin Gishu, Kitale, Thika, Meru, Garissa, and Nyahururu.

NTSA urged parents, schools and transport providers to take advantage of the free exercise, noting that safety on the road begins with well-maintained vehicles.
