Ol Kalou Member of Parliament David Njuguna Kiaraho has died.
The Nyandarua County legislator passed away on Sunday morning while receiving medical treatment in Nairobi.
He had been battling an illness for some time and had sought treatment both locally and abroad.
Kiaraho was first elected as Ol Kalou Constituency MP in 2013 and retained his seat in both the 2017 and 2022 General Elections.
In the National Assembly, he served as a member of the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing, as well as the Procedure and House Rules Committee.
In one such instance, a representative received 40 water tanks from the Kenya Wildlife Service on March 25 to support schools in harvesting rainwater.
During his tenure, Kiaraho was also linked to a number of controversies, including being questioned over the alleged mismanagement of about KSh 120 million in NG-CDF funds between 2013 and 2018.
In 2020, he was further questioned by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission over similar allegations regarding the use of constituency development funds.
His last public appearance was in November, when he conducted an infrastructural inspection tour within his constituency.
