Supporters of Rigathi Gachagua intend to enter the Deputy President's official residence in Karen on Tuesday, May 12.
Former KICC board chairperson Irungu Nyakera stated that the goal is to restore the office to the impeached DP Rigathi Gachagua following the court's ruling on DCJ Philomena's decision.
On Monday, May 11, Nyakera outlined the route that protestors will take following a press conference at Chester House. After the international press conference, they will proceed to Karen, where DP Kindiki's residence is located.
He stated that the protest would involve peaceful participants and mentioned that pickups would be available in various Nairobi estates, such as Kayole, Dandora, Muthurwa, Kawangware, Githurai, Pumwani, Mwiki, Utawala, and Ngong.
"Rigathi Gachagua was duly and democratically elected on August 9, 2022. His removal from office, therefore, subverted the sovereign will of the Kenyan people who elected him," Nyakera.

"Following the ruling of the court of appeal, we will hold an international press conference at Chester House tomorrow, followed by a peaceful procession to Karen, where the Deputy President will reclaim his rightful residence."
On May 9, the Court of Appeal ruled that Deputy Chief Justice Philemona Mwilu's choice to appoint a three-judge panel to hear Gachagua's impeachment case was unconstitutional.
“And while we do not doubt the bona fides of the Deputy Chief Justice in constituting the benches, we have discussed why it is critical for the reason or reasons why the Chief Justice did not exercise the constitutional mandate reserved for the Chief Justice to be communicated to the parties and the public, and that reason or those reasons be set out in the empanelment order,” read part of the court’s ruling.
Nonetheless, a critic of DP Gachagua has urged him and his supporters to move forward, as the process has already been completed through legislative means.
On Monday, May 12, 2025, Migori Senator Eddy Oketch, during an appearance on a local media station, stressed that the parliamentary impeachment process was definitive and would probably lead to the same outcome if conducted again.
“I want to wish Gachagua and those still talking about this well — but it’s time to move on. There is independence between the legislature and the judiciary. The legislature overwhelmingly impeached Gachagua, and even if the vote were repeated today, the result would be the same,” he stated.
“I can assure you that even if he were to come back today in the same two houses, he would still overwhelmingly be impeached. The legal question, for me, can continue, and I respect the judicial process that is continuing. But I don’t think it has the impact that is desirable in the eyes of factions that are with Gachagua."
