Ex-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has declared the premature conclusion of his official visit to the United States, mentioning the necessity to return to Kenya to get ready for the forthcoming by-elections in different regions of the country.

On Tuesday, Gachagua characterized his trip to the US as "very successful and fulfilling," emphasizing the significant interactions he had with Kenyans residing abroad.

“I regret being unable to visit the scheduled remaining states since I need to get back home to join our party, DCP Party, in preparation for the upcoming by-elections,” Gachagua said.
“My profound apologies to the organizers and Kenyans whom I was to meet; the same has been rescheduled to early next year.”

The Former Deputy President stated that he took a short break to rest before returning home and promised that his revised schedule would be shared with the public. He also expressed his appreciation to the Kenyan community in the US, praising their “love, warmth, and hospitality.”

“I salute the organizers and officials of the DCP chapters for superb planning, organization, and meticulous coordination. You are simply the best,” he added.

Gachagua's trip to the US was intended to connect with Kenyans living overseas and to enhance relationships with DCP Party chapters abroad. His choice to return sooner than scheduled highlights the political importance the party is assigning to the by-elections.

Earlier this month, the Former Deputy President started his US tour, visiting multiple cities to engage with Kenyan diaspora groups and talk about investment opportunities, remittance systems, and political developments in Kenya.

He also conducted private meetings with church leaders, local officials, and business communities to explore ways to strengthen grassroots relations between Kenya and the US.

The upcoming by-elections, expected in multiple counties, follow nullifications of election results and vacancies created by resignations or the deaths of sitting leaders.

Political parties, including the DCP, are treating them as critical contests that could influence the political landscape ahead of 2027.
