Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the Kenya Kwanza coalition are convening in Karen under the joint leadership of President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga for a historic Parliamentary Group meeting.

In a post shared by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on X on Monday, it stated that the session builds on the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two leaders last year and is widely seen as shaping the framework for future parliamentary collaboration.

At the center of discussions is a 10-point programme chaired by Agnes Zani, covering key issues such as economic recovery, job creation, lowering the cost of living, electoral reforms, youth and women empowerment, strengthening devolution, and anti-corruption measures.

Leaders are also discussing provisions for healing and compensation for families affected by past protests.

“The 10-point agenda is designed to ensure that Parliament addresses the pressing needs of Kenyans while fostering unity and accountability across party lines,” UDA stated.
“The meeting is also reaffirming recommendations from the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report, which provides a blueprint for bipartisan reforms in Parliament."

These include measures for electoral justice, sustainable political party funding, and a shared framework for budget-making.

The gathering signals a renewed focus on cooperation, with both sides emphasizing the need for unity and reform as guiding principles for parliamentary deliberations.
