Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has threatened to initiate impeachment proceedings against Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale over remark on Mt Kenya that he made on Saturday while addressing a public gathering in Garissa.
Ledama accused Duale of engaging in divisive politics, warning that such comments risk dragging the country backwards.
In a statement shared on X on Sunday, Ledama said that Duale had crossed the line by echoing sentiments similar to the controversial shareholding politics previously advanced by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
“Hon Duale, you’re a Cabinet Secretary; a policymaker, not a tribal politician. This weekend’s shareholding talk is pure poison, dragging Kenya back to the dark days of 2007 and spreading fear,” he wrote.
The senator reminded Duale that public office holders are expected to unite Kenyans and not fuel ethnic divisions.

“We impeached DP Gachagua for the same divisive nonsense. I honestly wonder what our problem is as a country, just when we start making progress uniting Kenyans, people like Duale pull us backward,” Ledama said.
He further cautioned the CS that he was not immune to accountability and warned that Parliament would act if such conduct persisted.
“If you think you are above the law, think again. It’s clear: impeachment may be the only way to remind you that government belongs to ALL Kenyans, not your sub-tribe. Enough of this tribal madness!” he added.
Duale, who was in Garissa on Saturday, had in remarks targeted at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua saying that the days of one community feeling more superior than others were over.
He insisted that the advent of devolution and the 2010 Constitution had changed Kenya’s political order and made ethnic entitlement obsolete.
“The days of entitlement that one community is more important than any other community are gone after the new constitution,” Duale said.
