The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 24,000 internship vacancies for junior school teachers to support the rollout of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

In a notice published on Tuesday, the Commission said the online application portal will open on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 and close at midnight on Monday, September 9, 2025.

Interested candidates are required to submit their applications through the Commission’s website, www.tsc.go.ke, under the Careers section or via teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.

“Manual applications will not be considered,” the notice stated.

Applicants must be Kenyan citizens and hold at least a diploma in education with a minimum mean grade of C+ in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and C+ in two teaching subjects.

They must also be registered with the TSC, be unemployed and have no record of exiting teaching service with the Commission due to disciplinary action.

Successful candidates will be engaged for a twelve-month internship and will receive a monthly stipend of Sh20,000, subject to statutory deductions.

“The internship programme is meant to equip and sustain competencies of persons entering the teaching service by enhancing their skills through mentorship, coaching and exposure to practical teaching experience,” TSC explained.

During the verification process, applicants will be required to present several documents, including their TSC registration certificate, national identification card or passport, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) PIN, two recent passport-size photographs and, where applicable, a National Council for Persons with Disability (NCPWD) card.

TSC has emphasised that the recruitment exercise is free of charge, urging the public to report any fraudulent activity to the nearest TSC office or police station.

“The TSC forewarns applicants against fraudsters who might extort money from unsuspecting persons purporting to assist in recruitment,” the notice warned.

As a way of reaffirming its commitment to inclusivity, the Commission further said it is an equal opportunity employer and encouraged persons with disabilities to apply for the positions.

Details of available vacancies per county and sub-county are posted on the Commission’s website at www.tsc.go.ke.
