President William Ruto has issued a bold political warning to his rivals, stating that his administration is fully prepared for any future contest as it continues rolling out development projects across the country.

The President made the remarks in Kisumu during the launch of Phase 2C of the Kisumu–Malaba Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), where he pointed to ongoing infrastructure works as proof of his government’s commitment to transforming Kenya and fulfilling its promises.

Ruto criticised his opponents, arguing that the progress made under his leadership is evident and increasingly being recognised even by those who have been against his administration.

“Tunawatangazia wale ambao wanataka kushindana na sisi ya kwamba miradi yetu ya maendeleo inaendelea, Kenya tunaitransform na nataka niwaambie tuko kadi na tuko tayari. Kama mnataka hiyo tuko kadi na tayari, we are ready for you when the time comes,” he said.

His statement comes at a time when the phrase “tuko kadi” has gained traction, especially among young people, who use it to mobilise voter registration ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The slogan has been widely adopted in youth-driven campaigns encouraging mass registration with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), to increase participation in the electoral process.

The movement, led by activist Ademba Allans, has rallied young Kenyans to take part in civic processes and shape the country’s political future.

Despite the growing political undertones surrounding the slogan, Ruto maintained that his administration remains focused on delivering development, highlighting key infrastructure projects currently ongoing nationwide.

It is worth mentioning that the president has become largely unpopular among the youth, many of whom are set to become first-time voters.
