UDA Lists Nomination Fees Each Candidate Will Pay in Upcoming By-Elections

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has released the nomination fees that aspirants will pay ahead of the party primaries for various seats in the upcoming by-elections.


In a notice dated August 14, 2025, the party announced that nominations will be conducted on September 20, 2025, with registration opening immediately and closing on September 5 at 5:00 p.m.


“The by-elections will fill vacancies in several elective positions, including Members of the National Assembly for Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Mbeere North and Ugunja constituencies, as well as the Senate seat for Baringo County,” the notice read in part.

A total of 22 Member of County Assembly (MCA) seats are also vacant across various wards in Samburu, Nandi, Tana River, Garissa, Nairobi, Kakamega, Bungoma, Elgeyo Marakwet, Machakos, Narok, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Nyamira, Turkana and Tana River counties.

UDA outlined the non-refundable nomination fees as follows: MCA aspirants will pay Sh50,000 for male candidates, while female, youth and persons with disabilities (PWD) will pay Sh25,000.


For National Assembly positions, men will pay Sh250,000, with women, youth, and PWD paying Sh125,000. Senate aspirants will also pay Sh250,000 for male candidates and Sh125,000 for female, youth and PWD candidates.


“All payments should be made via M-Pesa or through the party’s Equity Bank account. The account name should reflect the aspirant’s ID number,” UDA stated.

The party has urged prospective candidates to complete their registration early to avoid last-minute congestion on the online portal.
