After reports emerged of a young boy being fatally shot late Tuesday night, March 4th, allegedly by the police, a group of youths in Majengo, Pumwani, protested by setting a police vehicle on fire.
Videos and photos observed online by The Hourly NewsWave depict a billowing cloud of fire originating from several homes, separate from the police vehicle.
According to witnesses, the victim was an unarmed resident, causing outrage throughout the neighborhood.
On Wednesday morning, police were sent to the area to defuse the situation and used tear gas on the protesting youths, yet tensions stayed high.
This followed the protest turning violent, involving the setting of a police car on fire, several buildings, and the blockage of a main road to Eastleigh with stones and burning tires.

During the confrontation, several individuals sustained injuries, some from flying stones and others from tear gas.
Reports that have not been verified suggest that the angry youths also destroyed an administrative office.
The riots occur at a time when Kenya is already dealing with the impact of alleged extrajudicial killings in the area
