National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has revealed the final moments of Ol Kalou MP David Njuguna Kiaraho, who died while undergoing treatment in Nairobi.

In an official communication to Members of Parliament dated Sunday, March 29, 2026, Wetang’ula said Kiaraho passed away at around 1:20 am at Nairobi Hospital.

“It is with profound sorrow that I hereby notify Members of the National Assembly and the entire Parliamentary fraternity of the untimely demise of Member for Ol Kalou,” Wetang’ula said.
“The late Hon. David Njuguna Kiaraho passed away today… while undergoing treatment.”

The Speaker described the late MP as a committed legislator who served diligently until his death. Kiaraho was serving his third term, having first been elected in 2013 and re-elected in 2017 and 2022.

Kiaraho played a role in parliamentary work, serving in key committees including the Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure as well as the Procedure and House Rules Committee.

The Speaker also highlighted Kiaraho’s background, noting that he was born on October 2, 1963, and studied at Alliance High School before joining the University of Nairobi, where he obtained a degree in Architecture.

Before venturing into politics, Kiaraho built a career as an architect and served as a Principal Architect at Archgrid Systems, establishing himself in infrastructure and built environment projects.

Wetang’ula extended condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late MP, saying Parliament had begun arrangements to accord him a befitting send-off.

“On behalf of all Members and staff of the National Assembly, and indeed on my own behalf, I convey my heartfelt condolences,” he said.

He announced the formation of a funeral preparation committee to coordinate burial arrangements in consultation with the family. The team will be led by Kinangop MP Kwenya Thuku, with Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau serving as assistant, alongside seven other MPs.
