Raila Odinga has stated that he will not collaborate with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in the lead-up to the 2027 General Election.

While speaking in Wajir on Wednesday, March 5th, Raila disclosed that he cannot collaborate with someone who previously hoped for his failure.

As if that were not enough, the former Prime Minister mentioned Gachagua's comments about setting traps in State House to stop him from meeting President Ruto during the Azimio demonstrations in 2023.

“The other man said he had set traps everywhere so that I should not pass and get a handshake, so do you want us to go to the man who set traps for me? I told him that is impossible,” Odinga.

Raila Odinga claims that Rigathi Gachagua is attempting to maintain political relevance following a split with the government he was previously a part of.

"The trap that was set against me did not work, and that is why you saw me at State House alongside other East African leaders, including President Museveni, Samia Suluhu, and Ruto," Raila.

Raila was responding to Rigathi Gachagua's interview with a Kamba media station, during which Gachagua suggested he might be open to collaborating with Raila as he spoke to the community.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua indicated that "the door remains open" for collaboration with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to bolster his and various opposition politicians' attempts to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 general elections.

“I do not understand Raila’s intentions; it is his choice, depending on whether he wants to be with Ruto and water down his political legacy or on the side of liberating this country,” Rigathi replied.
“Ruto is not getting a vote from the 9 million Kenyan Gen Zs, so whether Raila is with him or not, we will defeat him. Kenyans have already decided Ruto must go home and want a new government that serves them.”
