Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that most Members of Parliament (MPs) and senators allied to President William Ruto will remain loyal to him through the 2027 general election, citing files and evidence the President allegedly holds on them.

Speaking on Tuesday night during The Explainer show on Citizen TV, Gachagua said Ruto knows the back of every MP and senator who has received financial favors, and that this knowledge ensures they will not abandon him.

“All those senators and MPs who took money during my impeachment, all those MPs who took money for the Finance Bill, all those MPs who have been receiving money from Ruto and his associates in Parliament, Ruto has a file on each one of you. None of you will be able to abandon him,” Gachagua said.

According to the Gachagua, Ruto anticipated that some lawmakers could shortchange him politically and formed a multi-agency team to collect evidence on leaders across the country.

“He has recordings of all the money he was giving them. He is a smart man,” Gachagua added.

“He knew that next year there would be a mass exodus, so he has prepared files to hold every leader accountable if they decide to leave UDA.”

He also revealed that the files extend beyond MPs to governors and other leaders, creating a system of political leverage.

“You will have to stick with Ruto to the end. You'll go home together, because the minute you try to move and abandon him, he will have a file on all of you,” he said.

Gachagua insisted that Ruto’s efforts are a continuation of the President’s vigilance against political disloyalty.

“William Ruto monitors all these MPs. Ask me, I was his deputy. He has all these recordings for all these bribes and deals in Parliament,” he stated.

Gachagua also touched on recent controversies surrounding the multi-agency team, which the courts had previously outlawed. He claimed that the initiative is designed to ensure loyalty and accountability for the president.

Gachagua further noted that Ruto’s team is creating files to deal with leaders who don’t agree with him and to control those who remain loyal.
