Speaking to a reporter, Owino clarified that he is not rebelling against his party, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), but is operating firmly within its principles.

Moses Kuria went on to dismiss Monday’s PG, where ODM and UDA MPs jointly endorsed the ten-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed last October, as little more than a partisan deal.  

Raila said that there were only two levels of devolution, national and county and thus constituency projects are implemented at the county level.

In a notice issued on Monday, the party’s National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) said the elections will be held at designated polling centres, with the exception of Migori, Nairobi and Kisumu counties.

The ODM leader emphasised the importance of strong county executives working alongside equally strong county assemblies.

"Our party will field a presidential candidate to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 general elections," he said.
