Comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi has thrown his weight behind his longtime friend Jalang'o, alias Phelix Odiwuor's bid for the Nairobi senatorial seat come 2027.
In a recent interview on Plug TV, media personality Eric Omondi set the political scene abuzz. Omondi, known for his blunt opinions and political commentary, subtly endorsed Jalang'o's campaign, remarking that "anything is possible" when asked about the MP’s chances of winning.
"Anything is possible. I do not know what his strategy is, but that is what it’s all about, and the voters. How do you interact with the people? A leader is determined by votes, and the votes are the people. His strategy and how he is with the people will be key," Eric said.
This statement, though indirect, is seen as a clear signal that Omondi believes Jalang'o can secure the Senate seat, provided he plays his political cards strategically.
Additionally, Omondi emphasized the importance of a solid strategy and winning over voters, urging Jalang'o to focus on standing on his own feet.
While he didn't name names, Omondi’s remarks seem to indirectly target Jalang'o's recent ties with government figures, including President Ruto. "You are a leader, stand on your own two feet, and sell your own policies," Omondi advised. "Stop hanging on people’s coats, it will destroy you."
Omondi and Jalang’o have shared a close friendship for years, and the endorsement seems not just political but personal. It has been speculated that while Jalang'o might be aiming for the Senate, Omondi could be positioning himself to take over the Lang'ata constituency in 2027.
