Final Journey of Advocate Mathew Kyalo Mbobu Begins Tuesday

The family of the late Advocate Mathew Kyalo Mbobu, has released details of his final journey following his tragic death last week.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the family announced that funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at St. John’s The Evangelist Church, Lang’ata South Road – Karen, starting at 11:00 am.
A private family interment will then take place the following day, Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
Meetings in preparation for the burial are ongoing at the family’s Karen residence and at All Saints Cathedral, with gatherings scheduled on September 12 and 15, 2025 from 5:00 pm.
Mbobu’s death on September 9, 2025, sent shockwaves through the legal fraternity and beyond.
He was gunned down in a shooting incident in Karen South, Nairobi, under circumstances that remain under police investigation.
According to reports, unidentified assailants opened fire on his vehicle, fatally wounding him.
The shooting, which occurred just metres from his home, sparked widespread condemnation and calls for swift justice.
Tributes have since poured in from colleagues, friends, and leaders who described Mbobu as a brilliant legal mind, a dedicated family man, and a patriotic Kenyan.
The family has appealed for privacy and prayers as they prepare to lay their loved one to rest.
“We are heartbroken, but we draw strength from the love and support extended to us. We ask for privacy as we prepare to give him a dignified send-off,” the notice read in part.
Mbobu was the beloved husband of Anne Mwende Kyalo and father to Maryanne Koki, Jean-Pierre (JP), and Rehema.
He was the son of the late Mbobu Nyolo and Hannah Mbelele Mbobu of Maiani Village, Makueni County. He was also a cherished godfather, uncle, and in-law to many, remembered for his generosity, mentorship, and service.
The announcement has been met with tributes from colleagues, friends, and family who continue to celebrate his life, describing him as a man of integrity, faith, and commitment to justice.
