Vihiga County Senator Godfrey Osotsi has spoken out following his removal as Deputy Party Leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
The lawmaker now says he remains unshaken and will not even contest the decision in court.
Osotsi was ousted on March 27 during the party’s Special Delegates Convention, a move that has since stirred political reactions within and beyond the party. Despite the setback, the Vihiga Senator has maintained a calm stance, signaling his intention to move forward rather than engage in legal battles.
Instead, he announced that he will now channel his energy into his Linda Mwananchi movement, which focuses on addressing key public issues and advocating for citizens’ welfare. He emphasized that his commitment to public service remains firm, regardless of his position within the party.
“I will not challenge the decision. My focus now is on serving the people through the Linda Mwananchi agenda,” Osotsi stated.
However, his removal has not been without controversy. Several leaders from the Luhya community have criticized the move, raising concerns over alleged internal divisions within ODM. They accuse factions within the party of sidelining leaders from outside certain regional blocs, warning that such actions could deepen cracks within the party.
The criticism also comes with cautionary reminders about the unity vision long championed by ODM leader Raila Odinga. Leaders argue that ongoing internal wrangles risk undermining the inclusivity and cohesion that have been central to the party’s identity.
As tensions simmer, Osotsi’s decision to avoid a legal challenge and instead pivot to grassroots engagement may shape the next phase of his political journey, even as questions linger over ODM’s internal unity and direction.
