Kenya Power Announces Planned Electricity Interruptions Across Several Counties on April 1



The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced planned electricity interruptions for several counties on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. These outages are part of routine maintenance and network upgrades aimed at improving power reliability. Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to treat all electrical installations as live and plan accordingly.

Affected Areas and Timings:

Kakamega County (8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.) West Kenya Sugar zone: Musaga, Samitsi, Kalenda, Malanga, Malava, Malava District Hospital, Malichi, Kiamang’eti, Tumbeni, Kakoyi, Kambi Mwanza Market, Shamberere National Polytechnic, West Kenya Sugar Company, Chevoso, Ingavira, Mahira, KWS, Ivikale, Kambiri Market, Bulovi, Ingulvuli, Kuvisali, Shanderema Secondary School, Ileho, and surrounding areas.

Meru County (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.)Kisima Farm, Uhuru Flowers, P.J. Dave, Wangu Farm, Kisima Market, Karimba, Subuiga, Machaka Sisters, Naari, Thege, Ntugi, and nearby customers.

Nyeri County (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.)

  • Kiamabara & Mungetho areas: Kiamabara Market, Kiamabara Primary School, Matira-Ini Village, Mungetho Market, Karema-Ini Booster, Ithiga Primary School, Gachiara Village, Nduru Village, Kirigu Village, Safaricom Boosters, Airtel Boosters, and surrounding customers.

  • Kiganjo, Chaka & Mbiriri areas: Kiganjo Shopping Centre, KCC, Maisha Millers, Chaka Market, Mt. Kenya Estate, Karundas, Maragima, Mathina, Thegu, Tagwa, Mbiriri, and nearby customers.

Nairobi County (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.)

  • Westlands area: Part of General Mathenge, Part of Ring Road, Eldama Ravine Road, West Wood Hotel, and adjacent customers.

  • Kayole & Spine Road area: Komarock Phase 4, Komarock Heights, Komarock Phase 3 (3A & 3B), Komarock Estate Phase 5, Infill A Phase 2, Nyama Villa Estate, and nearby customers.

Nakuru County (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.)NYS Barracks, Ngomongo, Milimani, Teachers, ASTU, Kigogo, Gitare, Mawingu, and surrounding customers.

Bomet County (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.)Ndanai Market, Tembwo Market, Sotik TTI, Kipsingei Market, Kagasik Market, Lorna Girls, and nearby customers.

Uasin Gishu County

  • Mbacho & Musembe areas (10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.): Mbacho Primary, Musembe Primary & Secondary, Musembe Water Dam, Mulwanda Primary, Mwivona Primary, and surrounding customers.

  • Maili Nne Centre & Emkoin area (10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.): Maili Nne Centre, Emkoin, Kapsaos Dispensary & Secondary, and nearby customers.

Kisumu County (9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.)Fishpond, Great Lakes University, Kajulu Water, Gita Market, Kianja, Nyabondo, and surrounding customers.

Residents are urged to plan, secure backup power if necessary, and take precautions to ensure safety during the outage periods.
