Kenya Power Announces Planned Electricity Interruptions in Uasin Gishu, Nyeri and Kiambu on March 30

Electricity consumers across various parts of the country should brace for temporary power cuts on Monday, March 30, 2026, as the Kenya Power and Lighting Company undertakes scheduled system maintenance.
The exercise is aimed at strengthening the electricity network, improving service delivery, and facilitating ongoing infrastructure upgrades. Despite the short-term inconvenience, the work is essential for ensuring a more dependable power supply in the long run.
The interruptions are expected to occur mainly between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. The affected areas include: Parts of Uasin Gishu County, Boma Inn and Top Hill, including Top Hill Hospital and nearby customers. In Nyeri County, the maintenance will cover Mukangu, affecting locations such as Mukangu Dispensary, Mukangu Primary and Secondary Schools, Mukangu Market, Mukangu Coffee Factory, as well as Safaricom and Airtel booster stations and surrounding areas. Also in Nyeri, the Kimathi University area will be affected, including Hill Farm, Kwa Nduta, Kahawa Ridge, Muringato Forest Station, Kimathi University, Sunrise Hostels, Bomas, Kabiruini ASK Grounds, and adjacent customers. In Kiambu County, the outage will affect Ngethu, Mataara, and Kamwangi areas, covering a wide range of locations including Ngethu Water Treatment and both Upper and Lower Camps, Igamba, Gathugu, Gituamba Market, Mataara Factory, Mucakai, Gakoe Market, Kihunjioini, Gachege Factory, Kamunyaka, Kiriko Mission, Kanyoni Market, Barigitu, Mwimuto, Miiri, Njahi, Karatu. Also in Kiambu Mururia High School, Kuri Factory, Karinga Girls, Gitwe Market, Ituramiro, Gaitete, KibirU Girls, Kagunyi Market, Kariuki Muiruri, Ngorongo, Kariua, Gatono, Kamwangi DC’s area, Kanjuku Market, Chomo, Kahuyo, P. Keneth, Kigoro Chief Camp, Njunu Factory, Ndakaini and Kanunga markets, Kigoro and Ndakaini water facilities, Kimandi, Wanyaga, Kimotho, Nduti Factory, Gituru, Kiangari, Rwegetha, Kagongo, Gatanga Water, Gathanjii Market, and all adjacent customers. While the temporary interruptions may affect daily routines, they are part of broader efforts to deliver a more stable and efficient power supply system.
