KPLC Warns of Planned Power Outages in Nairobi, Kisumu, and Nyeri on Friday, March 27

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has issued a notice warning residents of scheduled electricity disruptions in select areas on Friday, March 27.
The planned outages, which will last for eight hours, are part of routine maintenance and upgrades to power lines.
According to Kenya Power, temporary interruptions are necessary to ensure the network operates safely, connect new customers, and replace aging infrastructure.
Affected Areas:
1. Nairobi County
Gachie Area (9 am – 5 pm): Gachie, Red Hill Road, Nyari Estate, Thigiri Farm, Thigiri Ridge, and surrounding customers.
Parts of Riverside Drive (9 am – 5 pm): Kolobot Drive, Arboretum Road, Riverside Gardens, Prime Bank Riverside, Dusit D2, UON Chiromo Campus, Chiromo University Hostels, Part of State House Road, Waiyaki Way, ICEA Lions Waiyaki Way, Killeleshwa, TAJ View Apartments, Metropolitan Estate, GTC, and adjacent areas.
2. Kisumu County
Grand Royal Switz Hotel Area (9 am – 5 pm): Farm Engineering, Grand Royal Switz Hotel, Bukna, Balance Park Hotel, Kapco Primary School, Kiboswa, and surrounding customers.
3. Nyeri County
Gatitu, Kagumo, Sugarbaker Area (9 am – 5 pm): Sugarbaker, Senior Wambugu Hotel, Michuki, Gatitu Market, Meskins Dairies, Kihoro Forest, Kagumo Crusher, Kagumo Teachers College, and adjacent customers.
Kenya Power encouraged residents to stay informed about real-time updates, outage statuses, token-related issues, and rebilling requests through their chatbot at https://chatbot.kplc.co.ke.
These planned interruptions follow similar maintenance operations carried out earlier this week in nine counties, demonstrating the company’s ongoing efforts to improve electricity reliability across the country.
