President William Ruto has sent his condolences to the family of National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah following the death of his father, Mzee Isaac Ngugi.
In a message posted on his official X account on Friday, Ruto paid tribute to the late Mzee Ngugi, describing him as a visionary who contributed immensely to the growth of Kikuyu Town.
“Our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends on the passing of Mzee Isaac Ngugi, the father of Kimani Ichung’wah. He was an industrious and astute businessman and one of the brains that founded Kikuyu Town,” Ruto said.
“Mzee touched many lives through his many transformative initiatives that supported the vulnerable. His legacy will live on. Rest In Peace, Mzee.”
According to a notification from the Office of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mzee Ngugi, aged 105, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his Kikuyu home early Thursday morning.
He had been hospitalized at Karen Hospital for a week before being discharged last week.
The Speaker’s office confirmed that funeral arrangements are underway and that Kenyans may begin paying their condolences to the family from Tuesday, September 9.
“Details of the requiem mass and interment will be communicated later,” the notification read in part.
