Motorists in Kenya have recently encountered fuel shortages at several Shell-branded stations, sparking concern and frustration across major towns and highways. Vivo Energy Kenya, the company responsible for Shell fuel distribution in the country, has now addressed the situation, attributing the disruptions to a sudden spike in demand.
Vivo Energy Kenya reassured customers that the issue is being handled with urgency. The company stated that its teams are actively monitoring supply levels and coordinating logistics to replenish affected stations as quickly as possible.
“We are working continuously to restock impacted sites and restore normal service,” the company indicated, emphasizing that the shortages are temporary.
The temporary shortages have disrupted transport and logistics, particularly for public transport operators and businesses that rely heavily on fuel. For many motorists, the inconvenience has translated into wasted time and increased uncertainty.
Government officials have stepped in to reassure the public that the country still has adequate fuel reserves. They have pointed out that the problem is linked to distribution challenges rather than to a nationwide supply shortage.
Regulators have also cautioned fuel dealers against withholding stock, warning that such practices would lead to penalties.
Vivo Energy Kenya has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and reiterated its commitment to consistent service delivery. The company says it is prioritizing swift restocking to ensure that fuel availability is normalized across all stations.
