State Agencies Advertise Job Vacancies, How to Apply

Government agencies have announced job opportunities.
Government agencies have announced job opportunities.

Two independent state agencies and two leading public universities in Kenya have opened their doors to job seekers by announcing new vacancies with strict application deadlines set for October.

The institutions include the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC), the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), Maseno University and the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM).

Together, they are offering opportunities for Kenyans across a wide range of professional and academic disciplines, while emphasizing transparency, fairness, and inclusivity in their recruitment processes.

SRC, which is constitutionally mandated under Article 230 to set and review the remuneration and benefits of state officers, has announced a senior-level vacancy.

The commission is seeking to recruit a Head of Human Resources and Administration at Grade RL3.

“Interested applicants must hold a relevant postgraduate qualification in human resources management or business administration, possess significant leadership experience in HR and organizational administration, and demonstrate knowledge of public sector governance,” SRC noted.

The role will involve overseeing the commission’s internal human resource strategy, staff welfare, and administrative systems.

Applications are only being accepted through the SRC e-recruitment portal, and candidates have until October 9, 2025 to complete the process.

The commission has emphasized that email or hard copy submissions will not be accepted.

In its statement, SRC reminded candidates that only those meeting the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution including clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and a recognized Credit Reference Bureau will be considered for shortlisting.

“We encourage all qualified Kenyans to take advantage of this opportunity,” SRC said.
“The application process is strictly online to ensure accountability, fairness and equal access to all.”

IPOA, which was established to provide civilian oversight over police operations and promote accountability in the security sector, has also rolled out multiple job opportunities.

IPOA is recruiting staff across administrative, legal, and field-based roles as part of its strategy to strengthen policing oversight.

The authority has directed that all applications must be submitted online through the career’s portal on its official website. The deadline for applications is October 14, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.

In its notice, IPOA cautioned Kenyans to beware of fraudulent recruitment agents.

“We wish to caution applicants that IPOA does not use agents or charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process,” the authority said.

“Any form of canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification.”

According to IPOA, the successful candidates will be expected to bring integrity, vision, and strong commitment to public accountability.

“The Authority is looking for visionary, result-oriented individuals who share our commitment to accountability and professionalism in policing,” it added.

Applicants will be required to provide compliance certificates as provided under Chapter Six of the Constitution and must demonstrate experience in the areas they are applying for.

In the education sector, Maseno University has joined the recruitment drive with a wide array of openings across both teaching and non-teaching departments.

The vacancies span several schools including the School of Business and Economics, the School of Medicine, the School of Planning and Architecture, and the School of Education.

Among the disciplines being targeted are business administration, human anatomy, midwifery, urban management, and special needs education.

Non-teaching opportunities are also available in Legal Services, Internal Audit, Security Services, Procurement, Kisumu Hotel, and Transport.

Maseno has directed that applicants must submit ten copies of their applications, clearly addressed to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration, Finance and Development).

The submissions must reach their office no later than October 13, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.

In its call for applications, the university underscored its zero tolerance for favoritism and corruption in hiring.

“Canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted,” the administration said.

The institution noted that it is looking for individuals with strong academic and professional credentials, relevant teaching or administrative experience, and the ability to contribute to the university’s vision of academic excellence and innovation.

Lastly, TUM has equally invited applications for a variety of academic and support roles. The positions fall within its mandate to expand knowledge, science, and technology in line with its vision of becoming a University of Global Excellence.

Unlike Maseno, TUM requires that all applications be submitted online through its recruitment portal at jobs.tum.ac.ke. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, October 6, 2025.

The university has made it clear that email and hard copy applications will not be accepted, and no fees are charged during the process.

“We wish to assure all applicants that recruitment at TUM is merit-based, transparent and free of charge,” the institution said.

The vacancies include teaching positions in engineering, business, applied sciences, and health sciences, as well as non-teaching roles in administration, finance, security, and technical services.

“Interested candidates must hold relevant academic qualifications, professional experience in their fields, and compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution,” TUM said.

All four institutions SRC, IPOA, TUM and Maseno University have reiterated their status as equal opportunity employers.

They have encouraged applications from women, persons with disabilities and members of marginalized groups, reflecting a broader national push towards inclusivity in public sector employment.

“Diversity is one of the pillars of our recruitment process,” IPOA emphasised. “We are committed to building an institution that reflects the face of Kenya.”

Maseno University echoed the same, saying it was determined to “attract the best talent while giving equal opportunity to all qualified Kenyans regardless of gender, disability or background.”
